Bagels

We made some home bade bagels last night and they were surprisingly easy to make…and boy were they good.

Blessings from the Holy Land

Pastor Tom and Joanna went to Israel for a couple weeks in March and they brought back some dried cranberries for me. They were so good and fresh, and the best part was that they weren't even sweetened with sugar. I loved every bite!

It's finished!

Praise the Lord!!! The work for the cafe and college sign is done! Lord use this cafe for your glory!

My white day gift

I went off and made red velvet cupcakes. A great plan right? Sure it worked out good but in the above picture with the melting frosting I learned a valuable lesson, can you guess what it is? No, it's not "You have to let the cupcakes fully cool before you frost" what I learned was that butter frosting doesn't like to hold form for that long (I am unable to get cream cheese or I would have used a cream cheese frosting). My frosting melted not because of the cupcakes but because I forgot to let the frosting cool....so to all you armature bakers like myself, let your frosting cool in the fridge before you frost.

Also if you are wondering if they were any good, yes, yes they were very good!

Something special

White day is soon approaching. What is white day? It is partnered with valentines day in Japan. For valentines day the girls get the guys something and on white day the guys return the favor (the guys always give back double what the girls gave to them....it can get very expensive). So instead of getting each girl a little something something I decided to bake (not a strong area for me... But a great chance to strengthen it!).

Coffee

Now I don't drink the stuff but both Cotton and Tommy were very excited for this new coffee maker. It all looks like a little home lab or whatever. The coffee is made through siphon filtration, so the water boils pushing the water up to where the grounds are then once all the water is up we turn the fire off and it filters down. It is quite fun to watch. I hear that coffee made this way is supper good.

Lunch

I was able to meet up with one of my good friends. Yasutomo was born and raised here in Okinawa and is now getting ready to graduated from college in Tokyo and will move back here to Okinawa in a couple of weeks. We went down to the famous tondou ramen-ya, as always it was super good!

Baseball

Last Saturday I was able to take some of the students out to see one of Rob's baseball games. He plays company league baseball for the Aniya company. He is the only tall white guy on the team (and I think the only one in the league too).
